Interface & Navigation

The platform interface is divided into several main zones to facilitate navigation and data management (see Layout & Home Page).

Layout & Home Page

The Home Page is the main entry point of the platform and provides access to primary navigation, context configuration, and global platform metrics.

It is composed of four main zones:

  1. Left Navigation Menu
  2. Top Navigation Bar & Virus Species context switcher
  3. Central Home Content (Dashboard)
  4. Footer

Left Navigation Menu

The Left Navigation Menu displays the main sections used throughout the platform.

Top Navigation Bar & Virus Context Switcher

The Top Navigation Bar indicates your current location in the application using a breadcrumb trail.

On the right side:

  • The Virus Species context switcher allows switching the viral context (e.g. changing category).
  • Clicking it opens the new context in a new browser tab, each with its own navigation context.
  • Additional virus families may be added over time.

Note: Clicking to change the virus species opens the new context in a new browser tab.

Central Home Content (Homepage Dashboard)

The central area hosts the Homepage Dashboard.

Upon logging in, the homepage provides a high-level dashboard of the platform’s data:

  • Sequence Count: Total sequences stored.
  • Territories: Number of geographical territories represented.
  • Imports: Total number of import operations performed.

These statistics update dynamically based on platform activity.

From here, you can quickly navigate using the Explore or Contribute buttons.

The footer contains essential links and information:

  • Partner Logos: Visual representation of project partners.
  • About Us: Links to the external project website (history, creation).
  • GDPR: Direct link to the GDPR documentation.
  • Governance: Direct link to Licenses and Rights.
  • Contact Us: A form to contact support for technical issues or questions.
  • Copyright: Company name and copyright notices.

Each of these opens in a new tab or internal page depending on its type.
